WITH all the trouble that the MRSA bug is causing, why are the nursing staff allowed go home in their uniforms?
Surely it is much more hygienic to keep all uniforms in the hospital, also a change of shoes, soft soled shoes preferably, for use solely in the hospital, and also the hospital's own laundry to wash them on a very hot wash, as they did years ago?
Bring back the starched aprons of years ago, clean one on every day, OK it may cost more doing this but surely cost-effective in lives and added expense that MRSA incurs now?
We used to have outdoor uniform as well as indoor uniform and woe betide anyone who didn't respect the rules.
The uniform was strictly for the wards and nothing more. We were allowed changing time of 10 minutes at either end of our shift, to allow for this.
Strict was the word but we loved it just the same - and no MRSA.
