IT took nine years, but Rossendale United finally gained revenge for that FA Vase mauling back in 1995 as they completely outplayed a Brigg side that had lost just twice in the league this season.

Dale were the better side from start to finish and could, and probably should, have had more than the five goals they came away with.

On an excellent playing surface OEDale played some excellent football to rip apart a defence that had conceded just twelve goals in their previous fourteen league games.

Chris Brooks had already gone close to opening the scoring on a couple of occasions before Rob Jones gave OEDale the lead on eleven minutes. A long free kick was only partially cleared and Jones lobbed the ball back over Nathan Steer after the keeper had gone walkabout.

IT took nine years, but Rossendale United finally gained revenge for their FA Vase mauling by Brigg back in 1995.

Dale played some excellent football to rip apart a defence that had conceded just 12 goals in their previous 14 league games.

Rob Jones put them in front on 11 minutes before Chris Brooks doubled the lead on 24.

The hosts briefly threatened a comeback, Rossendale manager Mark Molyneaux saving well from Simon Roach, but he had little chance with the forward's quickly-taken free kick which reduced the arrears as Dale were caught napping.

Brigg started the second half on top, but in the 63rd minute Jones scored his second.

Jamie Baguley made it four after good work from Stuart Tulloch and Ian Barker finally got his reward for a hard-working display, scoring the fifth.
