THE organisers of a Burnley bonfire were today slammed as irresponsible after leaving it smouldering for three days.
Firefighters said people were still throwing rubbish onto the Kiddrow Lane bonfire and revealed they had advised organisers to reduce the size of the fire to prevent that situation.
Station Officer Neil Ashworth said organisers would be asked to contribute towards a digger to remove the heap of smouldering rubbish, which is more than 20ft by 20ft in size and three metres deep.
Station Officer Ashworth said: "We have been called out to it four times since Friday, each time leaving us without fire cover."
