DEBUTANT goalkeeper Andy Marriott, who joined the club 24 hours earlier as a replacement for the injured Glyn Garner, was a disappointed man on Saturday.
The experienced Welshman had little to do apart from face the match-winning penalty, but he has seen one or two things from his new teammates that impressed him.
"After playing in the reserves at Colchester it was great to get back playing first team football again, but even better to have had a winning start," he said.
"I've signed a three month contract and want to do a good job for the club and hopefully get us up near the top of the table.
"As well as playing in today's game I saw the game at Darlington three weeks ago and I reckon theres no reason why this team shouldnt be pushing for the play-offs.
"It's a tight division and the situation reminds me of when I joined Burnley when I was 20.
"We were in a similar mid-table position but strung five or six good results together to move up the table, then its about staying there.
"We've got to be ruthless and think that we arent a mid-table side but one thats going to go somewhere and do something."
