REGULARS at the Lord Nelson are toasting the Admiral's name after new owners declared the monicker would stay.
Nelson residents launched a campaign last month after the pub was bought by Preston-based Honeycombe Leisure which runs a chain called Last Orders. It was feared the pub's name could have been lost just before the inn's 200th anniversary, which it shares with the Battle of Trafalgar.
Residents sent letters and emails to Honeycombe and now one campaigner, Gordon Edgerley of Caldbeck Close has been told by the company's joint chief executive James Baer that Nelson's honour was never in question.
He wrote: "It has not been our intention to change the name.
"We will be keeping the name The Lord Nelson and inserting a subtitle 'a Last Orders Inn'.
