Radcliffe Borough 4 Stocksbridge 1: PHIL Denney grabbed a hat-trick as Radcliffe came back from a goal down to reach the second round of the FA Trophy.

Borough were good value for their win, which was only soured by the late sending off of Richard Battersby for a second bookable offence.

Denney and Steve Foster both wasted good chances to give Borough an early lead, before Stocksbridge shocked them by scoring from their first meaningful attack.

Duncan Bray turned in Alvin Riley's mis-hit shot to put the visitors in

front in the 31st minute, but that spurred Kevin Glendon's side into action.

Denney headed in from a corner to equalise three minutes later, before Borough struck twice in quick succession just before the interval.

Lee Duffy crossed for Denney to head his second in the 44th minute, before Battersby turned and fired a 20-yard shot which squirmed beneath keeper Steve Hodgson in first-half stoppage time.

Denney completed his hat-trick with a fiercely-struck shot 11 minutes into the second half.

Boro manager Kevin Glendon had to name three youth team players on the substitute's bench as his squad is now at a bare minimum after the parting of the ways with Karl Margenson, Simon Carden and Rory Patterson in midweek.
