WHAT nonsense that we're talking about 'must-win' games this early in the season.
I heard some people saying that about Norwich on Saturday but at this stage it's ludicrous to panic people into thinking they're already on the verge of going down.
Yes, Blackburn Rovers do need good results right now.
But in my opinion a draw at Norwich City was just that - as it will be if they can repeat it at Manchester City this Saturday.
It would give Rovers three games unbeaten on the bounce, and in terms of getting a solid foundation, you're really talking.
So there's absolutely no need to think that they have to go out and win this game.
I'm not saying they should just go there to defend but a point away from home is the priority, especially as the teams around them at the bottom aren't starting to pull away yet.
A draw just sets us up nicely on a little run where we haven't been beaten and that's a great way to build confidence and slowly but surely work our way up the table.
I think we are more than capable of doing it, which is why I think, with the games we have coming up now, we can really respond to this run of results.
In other words, the wins will eventually come if the side can shake off the habit of being beaten.
And what better way to bounce back from two disastrous 4-0 thrashings than the way they have done?
They did very well with their performance against Liverpool and looked very, very solid for a lot of the game.
I didn't make it down to Norwich but by all reports they played well again and we can take heart from that result too, especially as we were down to 10 men so early on.
It's looking like people are starting to gel, because the players are very new to each other as a side so that can be hard.
It's particularly true of the back four, which has a new look because of injuries, but the lads there are not doing badly.
They'll have to defend well at City because any side run by Kevin Keegan and my mate Derek Fazackerley will be playing in their usual swashbuckling manner.
With Kevin it's all about passion, emotion and trying to score more than the opposition, no matter how many. It's not a philosophy that always works in the professional game but it always makes his teams dangerous.
And they have just had an excellent result against United, although that is a game they will have been fired up for.
A big part of their attacking force is Shaun Wright-Phillips, and without getting over-concerned, I think Rovers do need to watch him.
They may have to think about getting someone alongside him because he's pretty electric when he gets going and certainly a real talent.
Stop him and we can definitely hold out for a point - and that's good enough for me!
DANGERMAN: Rovers will have to stop Shaun Wright-Phillips
