DETECTIVES today appealed for anyone with CCTV on houses or shops near the scene of a high-value armed robbery in Burnley to get in touch.
Police are hoping video evidence will help them track down the gang who attacked and robbed security guards at the cash machine at the One Stop Shop, Colne Road, on Monday evening.
Police said a gang of three men wearing balaclavas and one carrying a knife attacked two guards working for Securicor, who were delivering to the ATM at about 5.30pm. One of the guards received minor injuries to his arm and was treated for shock at Burnley General Hospital. No-one else was hurt.
The robbers escaped with a substantial amount of cash. Securicor are offering a reward.
Det Con Mike Harvey, of Burnley CID, said: "We are continuing with our inquiries and it would certainly help if anyone with CCTV either on business premises or covering their own homes could come forward if they believe they may have footage of the robbery. Someone could have recorded a vital piece of footage which could help us trace this gang."
Detectives are not ruling out a link between Monday's hit on the convenience store and a raid on Securicor guards outside the Spar shop at the corner of Brunshaw Road and Brownside Road in October, when robbers escaped with £50,000.
Police said there were similarities between both raids and that the gangs appeared to be from outside the area. Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
