PLANS to build flats and bungalows in Colne are set to be approved.
Flamemanor Developments have applied to Pendle Council for permission to build a block of eight apartments and five bungalows on a former garage site and disused kickabout area off Birtwistle Avenue.
A planning application for two blocks of flats on the site has already been turned down because it affected neighbours' privacy and was 'overbearing'.
But outline permission for housing has been given provided it is limited to three bungalows.
In a report to Colne councillors, planning officer Jim Bennett wrote: "This proposal is fundamentally changed from the earlier refusal, as a two-storey block of apartments has been replaced with bungalows, to prevent loss of privacy and overbearing impact.
"The main issues for consideration now are whether the vehicular access is acceptable for the density now proposed, the appearance of the proposal and its impact upon surrounding dwellings."
Two residents have said the development will make parking problems worse while another has said the access road is too narrow.
Colne and District Committee will meet in Colne Town Hall tomorrow at 7pm.
