ENTERTAINER Ted Robbins will compere an evening of entertainment to raise cash for terminally ill youngster Jack Heath.

Four year-old Jack, has been diagnosed with incurable Hunters Syndrome, which affects only one in every 150,000 boys in the country, and means he will probably not survive into his teens.

The latest event to raise cash will be held at Bacup Leisure Hall on Friday.

Compere Ted is a favourite on local radio and played nightclub owner Den Perry in Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights TV show.

Entertainment on the night will include a DJ, soul band Souled as Seen, young Bacup country and western singer Natalie and a ballet set from the Sue McCaw School of Dance, together with a raffle.

Locals in Jack's home town of Bacup started a fund-raising campaign after hearing of his plight and have set up a charitable trust.

There have also been several fund-raising events since Jack's parents were given the tragic news by doctors in 2002.

The money is being used to buy equipment for him and to adapt his house to accommodate a wheelchair.

His mum Elizabeth, of Peel Drive, has given up work to look after Jack, who has difficulty speaking, hearing and walking, and to take him to his five hospital appointments a week.

Jack, who attends Holy Trinity Primary, Stacksteads, stopped developing after 13 months and had to have his tonsils removed because he had sleep apnoea, which causes breathing difficulties.

Tickets for the latest event cost £5 including a potato pie supper. Phone 01706 874912, 01706 216246 or 01706 874134.
