A FAMILY raised £3,000 for Bury Hospice in memory of their mother, Irene Read.
Mrs Read, of Bramworth Avenue, Ramsbottom, died, aged 53, in Bury Hospice after contracting cancer.
After her children Nicola Barton, of Holhouse Lane, Tottington, and Pamela Heaton, of Acresbrook Walk, Tottington, organised a charity night at Tottington Conservative Club, their husbands Philip Heaton and Derek Barton undertook a 34 mile walk from Shepley, Huddersfield, to the club. They were joined by Mrs Reads grandchildren Lauren Barton, and Sophie and Thomas Heaton for the last mile.
Mr Heaton said: "After the death of their mother, Nicola and Pamela decided they would like to organise a charity night to raise money to support the hospice in the tremendous work they do.
"Both would like to express their thanks to all staff at the hospice, and hope that the money will help to support them in the future."
