A MUGGER who attacked a blind grandmother on a nature trail in Tottington is still being hunted by police.

Mrs Mary Sprason was slashed across the face before reaching a neighbours house where she collapsed into a potentially lethal diabetic coma.

The attempted robbery happened at 3pm on November 2, when the former catering company boss - who is 75 per cent blind - was walking her dog, Sam, on the former railway lines in the Kirklees Valley.

She was confronted by a man who demanded her purse and was cut across the left cheek before the offender fled empty handed. Mrs Sprason, of South Royds Street, Tottington, was treated by paramedics and taken to Fairfield General Hospital as a precaution.

Her attacker was believed to a white male, about 5ft 7 ins, and wore dark clothing and a hooded top or jacket.
