PUPILS at a Bury Grammar Girls School decided to do their bit for the environment while putting their design skills to the test.
The youngsters from the school's environmental group marked the "National Kids for Tomorrow" Initiative by spending a morning and an afternoon tidying up their school on Bridge Road.
The initiative is inspired by the recent blockbuster film The Day After Tomorrow which is based on global warming and its wider implications.
Schools across the country are competing with each other to come up with the most orginal and environmentally-friendly ideas while encouraging the pupils to become more aware of their environment. The two schools crowned winners will be presented with £3,000 to implement their ideas.
Following an assembly and an interview with one of the school cleaners, the Bury Grammar pupils mixed environmental fun with creativity by designing bins and cleaning up the grounds in and out of school.
