A COURSE to help nature-lovers tell their birch from their beech is being held on Sunday, November 21, at Philips Park local nature reserve in Whitefield.
The day-long event, run by BTCV and Bury Council, gives residents an opportunity to identify and distinguish between different types of tree.
The course costs £20 (waged) and £10 (unwaged), although BTCV volunteers and members can attend for free.
Project officer Paul Robinson said: "People may be surprised at how much they can find out about a tree just from looking at buds and bark. The winter tree identification course aims to show that nature can be enjoyed at what people consider to be a dead time of year."
