SENIOR staff at a Prestwich old people's home are set to razzle and dazzle on the dance floor in a Come Dancing style competition.
Six managers at Heathlands Village have swapped their daily routines for dance routines in a bid to raise vital funds for the residential facility.
Fundraising manager Andrea Allinson has been learning how to salsa and waltz for the past eight weeks along with catering manager Glyn Bushby, admissions officer Anne Khan, vice-president Rodney Berkeley, accounts manager Jim Hill, and Joan Hughes, Heathlands' head of nursing.
The novice group have been given expert help by tutors at Middleton dance school Vivas, run by Neil Gibbons, and in just more than one week's time they will pair up with trained dancers to compete in a knockout contest based on the popular television programme Strictly Come Dancing.
Ms Allinson said: "We are getting a bit nervous as the big night approaches but we are all looking forward to it. Considering we have been training for eight weeks, for just a few hours a week, we think we have done really well."
The event will take place at Middleton Civic Hall on Saturday, November 20 and is open to anyone to attend.
From 7.30pm there will be an open dance session, followed by a demonstration by Vivas Dance School.
At 9pm the competition will begin and couples will be eliminated by a panel of three professional judges.
Tickets for the event are £5 and proceeds will be divided between Heathlands and Vivas. Contact Ms Allinson on 0161 772 4705 or Middleton box office on 0161 643 2389.
