ALUMINIUM has been turned into trees for Nelson's Quarry Hill nature reserve.
Pendle residents have recycled seven tonnes of the metal in the past year and, in return, the Aluminium Packaging Recycling Organisation has given the borough seven saplings.
Pendle Council recycling officer, Denise Bell, said: "As the trees grow to maturity they will represent the energy that can be saved by getting into the habit of recycling.
"We would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this result, and encourage residents to keep recycling so that we can plant more trees next year."
