PHOENIX Nights star Patrick McGuinness will be lighting up Bury next Thursday when he performs this year's Christmas lights switch-on at the Mill Gate centre.
The festivities will start at 4pm with an entertainment roadshow before the Mayor's parade begins at 5.45pm on the stage outside Marks & Spencer.
At 6pm, Patrick, who played Paddy the bouncer in the hit Channel 4 series, will flick the switch, joined on stage by seventies crooner Tony Christie.
Fun activities continue with giveaways, competitions and prize draws from Bury FC players and mascot Robbie the Bobby, followed by performances from the cast of the Bury Met Christmas production, The Snow Queen.
The roadshow will draw to a close at 7pm with shops in the centre staying open until 8pm.
