Players and organisers gathered at a presentation evening to celebrate the second successful season for the Bank Top Community Football League.

A total of 90 youngsters took part in the league which aimed to promote sport and bring communities together.

The Bank Top Community Football League is a project led jointly by the Blackburn North Healthy Living Centre and Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council's Community Development Section. Healthy Living Centre Co-ordinator Abdul Mulla said, "The main aim of the project is to use sport to bring children aged 9 to12 from different backgrounds together, to learn about each other, to promote healthy lifestyles and most importantly to have fun!"

Trophies were awarded to the young people by the Chair of the Healthy Living Centre Steering Group, Pauline Walsh; local ward councillors, Mohammed Khan, Kate Hollern and Dave Harling; PC Paul Meades (Community Beat Manager); Annie Smith (member of PACT) and a representative of the Bank Top Community Association.

The Community Development Team based at the Bank Top Community Centre worked very hard in recruiting all the young people onto the project, setting up the teams, arranging all the fixtures, refereeing the matches and supervising all the match days - none more than Mo Khan who helped make this league a big success.
