"PATRIOT and Proud" (Letters, November 9) scorns the "fabric of true British life".

This letter was published on the day that Birmingham Council announced that there would be no Santa Claus and no grotto in the Bull Ring "in case it offends non-Christians". I accept that it is not the fault of ethnic minorities, but the politically-correct brigade who continually force other cultures and religions on us, but wont allow us to celebrate our own.

Take Manchester police, for instance. They went round the Muslim communities handing out sweets to the children for when the days fasting was over. Do you see them going to churches and handing out Easter eggs at Easter, or an orange or some nuts for a stocking-filler for Christmas. No, I didn't think so.

It is this kind of positive discrimination that we are opposing; and this is when there is only six per cent of ethnic minorities, or immigrants, here. What will it be like when these numbers increase ten-fold? This is why we feel our heritage and culture is being eroded.

We agree that change can be a good thing, but what's wrong with wanting to hold on to our Christian values and beliefs as well.

As for correspondent "Brad", is it not enough that we celebrate Black History Month and the MOBO awards, hold Asian music festivals in Heaton Park, to name just a few, by all means lets have a multi-cultural music festival every year, but let it celebrate all cultures and all religions.
