THERE'S no let-up for Blackburn Hawks as they face back-to-back Premier League opposition in the cup this weekend.
After a run of six Premier Cup defeats, the Hawks face the daunting prospect of Telford Wildfoxes away on tonight, before re-grouping to entertain Swindon Wildcats at Blackburn Arena on tomorrow.
Last weekend, key players such as Brian Worrall, Greg Allen and Peter Tapp returned to action and an improved performance saw the Hawks net three against Sheffield, in a 9-3 defeat, and avoid the dreaded shut-out.
Player-coach Bobby Haig and his men have no hope of progressing in the Premier Cup and will be on a damage limitation mission before the English League resumes the following weekend.
Currently, the Hawks are unbeaten in four league matches and are top of the English Hockey League North.
The league programme, however, has been suspended for six weeks to allow the Premier Cup group matches to be played - and the Hawks have come unstuck.
Haig's team will be looking to avenge earlier defeats from both Telford and Swindon, but will have to be at their very best to get positive results.
Tonight's Premier Cup tie at Telford Arena faces off at 5.30 pm.
The Swindon Wildcats clash at Blackburn tomorrow starts at 6pm. The Arena doors open for spectators at 5.15 pm.
