IN response to Mr Blackledge's letter, October 19, LET, I would like to assure him my feet are firmly on planet earth and apologise for not living in Blair's cloud cuckoo land which is located in a mammoth South Sea bubble just waiting to pop.

The money spent on building schools does not guarantee any improvement in education standards.

Labour's attitude to education is never mind the quality -- feel the width.

If Blackburn is so successful in its school policy, then why is it nearly top in teacher shortages?

In the seventies, rapid school building under Labour led to inferior quality of design and construction led the way to the problems referred to.
