ONLINE shopping could soon seem a lot more realistic with a student at Nottingham Trent University developing a new computer programme.

It allows the customer to 'feel' the product by providing realistic feelings for 10 sensations. By running the mouse over the product you will be able to stroke the fibres of a jumper, test the thickness and elasticity by stretching the fabrics.

The idea is to make online shopping appeal to another of the five senses, what next? a scratch and sniff screen to buy perfume?

IF you're looking for love this winter, you could soon find your dream date via your video mobile.

"It's the beginning of the end of the blind date as we know it," said Graeme Oxby, 3's marketing director.
