FAME Academy star Lemar is urging Lancashire's teenagers to stay alert when they are on the roads.
The Brit Award winner is backing a campaign by Lancashire County Council's Road Safety Group to remind youngsters about the dangers of being distracted when out and about.
Research has revealed that four out of 10 teens have come close to being involved in a road accident, and Lemar is part of a poster campaign being displayed in high schools.
He said: "I am lending my support to remind teenagers just how important road safety is."
Research has found that the majority of accidents involving young pedestrians are simply down to them not paying attention.
In 2003 there were 80 killed or seriously injured and 401 slight injuries in the 12-16 age group throughout Lancashire.
Clare Farrer, Principal Road Safety Adviser, said: "Traffic is the biggest single killer of 12-16 year olds." For more information call 0800 1328 1635 or log on at www.lancashireroadsafety.co.uk
