ROSSENDALE'S burgeoning confidence could be enough to prompt a Lancashire FA Marsden Cup upset, according to manager Mark Molyneaux.

The Dale boss is pleased with the way his team is progressing since he took charge in September.

And he sees no reason why they can't get through their Lancashire FA Marsden Trophy first round tie at Bamber Bridge tonight (kick-off 7.45pm).

"We go into the game as underdogs but we look forward to every game we play and go out to win," Molyneaux said.

"The team is growing with confidence each week."

And on the back of Rossendale's 1-1 draw at Spalding on Saturday, the Magpies chief added: "It wasn't a great performance on Saturday and I thought we should have won the game.

"But we lost Sean Smith, who we'd had on loan, at the 11th hour and Mark Rebbeck came in and did well.

"It was nice because Sean had been playing well for us but we didn't miss him. If we had, that would have been a concern."

ROSSENDALE United are holding a players and supporters night at the club at 8pm on Saturday following their home game against Warrington.
