SWAPPING chocolate bars for pieces of fruit paid off for the children of Greenhill Primary School in Bury when they raised nearly £900 for charity.
The youngsters at the Mile Lane school spent several weeks being sponsored to eat healthily to raise money for MedEquip4Kids, which raises money to improve healthcare services for sick and injured children throughout the north west.
Catherine Hughes, from the Prestwich-based charity, visited the school to teach the children about their work. Following her visit, the pupils received educational games to take home and play while being sponsored to complete them.
Catherine said: "The children have worked very hard for the charity and we are delighted by the support also shown by all the staff at the school. They have been very enthusiastic about the children here raising money for such a worthwhile cause."
