I AM pleased about the announcement of the proposed academy in the centre of Darwen. It's just what Darwen needs.
I am a former pupil of Moorland High School and can well remember how awkward it was to get to. It would have been fantastic to have gone to a brand new school in the centre of Darwen instead.
I also welcome the idea of a college attached to the school. In order to study for 'A' levels I had to travel outside Darwen, as did all my friends. I would have liked to be able to do my 'A' levels in Darwen.
From what I have heard, about the only thing I don't like about the academy is that it wasn't there when I went to secondary school.
