AN ATMOSPHERIC shot of a motor cycle riding medic greeting a girl on a street corner has been selected as the winner of Poulton's 'The Big One' photographic competition.
The picture was taken by Mrs Margaret Aldren, of Scale Hall, in Poulton Square during the smash hit Forties weekend organised by Poulton Heritage Committee.
She wins a £100 prize for the photograph that judges decided best summed up the friendly and informal atmosphere of the event.
Forties re-enactors and military vehicle enthusiasts from all over the country converged on Morecambe for the weekend- which included a 'D-Day' style beach battle as its centrepiece - in September.
And scores of people entered hundreds of pictures into the photographic competition organised in association with the Citizen.
There is only one prize but a selection of other pictures were picked out as being 'highly commended' by the hard-pressed judging panel, two of them reproduced here.
Judging took place in October and the announcement of the winners this week coincides with news that the whole event is to be repeated next September - with organisers hoping to make it bigger and better again.
