SAD schoolchildren have been left fighting to keep their beloved swimming baths open after Wigan Council announced plans to close it.
Pupils of Chowbent Primary School have organised a petition and had many people sign it in a bid to keep Atherton Baths open. They have also written a letter to the Council explaining how upset they are after hearing the plans. Many pupils in the Leigh area enjoy visiting the pool and learn to swim there.
Atherton Baths has been much loved for many years and still is, many people would be upset and angry if it were to close and children would be left with nowhere to learn to swim. The baths is loved by people of all ages, many elderly people use the baths to relax and watch children enjoy themselves.
Chowbent pupil Chloe McDonough said: "All children should learn how to swim and many do, at Atherton Baths. Please, please help us to keep it open!"
