MICHAEL Barron scored with an away fan at Old Trafford - and married her this week in a dream wedding ceremony in Las Vegas.
It was love at first sight when United fan Michael met West Ham supporter, Helen Tebbey, two years ago and they planned to marry next July.
But Helen entered a Virgin Radio competition asking listeners to reveal how couples intending to marry linked up, they won and decided to bring their big day forward.
Michael, 26, of Withington Drive, Astley, first met Helen, also 26, who had come up to Manchester with a friend on a pre-match evening out at Manchesters Fifth Avenue.
After entering the stadium at different ends on the Sunday they met up again and have been together ever since.
Mum Val said: "He came home and told me hed met the girl of his dreams, went off to London a week later and stayed."
Helen, an advertising executive, and Michael, an administrator with a health care company, learned their entry had taken them through to the last three and after radio interviews they were thrilled to hear on November 3 that they had won the all expenses paid trip .
Four days later they were off to the worlds gambling capital and married a week later at the MGM Grand Hotel with a guest Elvis impersonator.
The luxury holiday also included a helicopter flight along the Grand Canyon and horse riding on a ranch.
The couple, who returned home on Monday, have promised to arrange a blessing and reception later so that mums and dads Val and Mike and Sharon and John, of Greenwich, and their families dont miss out on the celebration.
Val said: "Thankfully we wont miss out on wearing our hats."
The couple now support their own teams - and each others.
