DONCASTER 15 SEDGLEY PARK 13: SEDGLEY started brightly enough, with Chris Glynn worrying the home side with an exceptional penalty effort from long range, passing just wide of the mark.
Then the Yorkshiremen began to dominate up front, and with only a quarter of an hour played the biggest of them, pounding away from short distance, eventually drove through Sedgleys defence to score.
For the remainder of the period half Sedgley looked the more likely to score, both from the long-range abilities of their backs and the integrated movement of a well drilled pack.
However, it took 40 minutes before they registered any points, Fryer claiming the prize with debutant Rob Featherstone adding two more, giving Sedgley a 5-7 half time lead.
Changes in personnel included a welcome return for Jamie Albinson at scrum-half, and Henry Platt, initially brought on as flanker.
After three minutes of the second half, however, he was required to take up hooking duties as the temporary dismissal of Fryer lead to a re-shuffle.
Despite another penalty miss, Sedgley dug deep and Featherstone added a further six points with the boot before Doncaster, with less than ten minutes remaining, contrived to score seven well earned points.
With only moments remaining, Sedgley (leading by a single point) spurned two wonderful scoring chances - both thrown away by the kick and chase option.
Doncaster, who used the second gift of possession to make ground, were awarded a kickable penalty and secured a home.
