Bury Amateur AFC 4 Radcliffe Boys 2: IT was second against third at Drinkwater on Saturday, and the first of four tough games coming up for the Ammies.
Against the physical but organised visitors, Bury weren't able to establish their usual flowing style of play and were one down after 15 minutes.
A long diagonal ball beat a static Bury back four and the forward finished well.
Although the hosts weren't playing particularly well they still created chances and were soon level.
Tony Jackson latched on to a throughball and finished superbly from 18 yards.
As the half went on Bury improved and were playing much the better football but after a rare mistake from goalkeeper Darren Hobson, Bury trailed again.
Pietro Carinci went close with a good free kick before Pete Hickford finished neatly to equalise.
The second half saw Bury create a number of chances and Rick Stephens finally edged the Ammies ahead with a lofted finish from 20 yards.
Gary Edwards then won and missed a penalty, before Tony Subachus wrapped it up with a neat finish after springing the offside trap.
AMMIES: Hobson, Carinci, Birchenough, Gibbons, Holdsworth, Stephens, Hickford, Subachus, Edwards, Jackson.
