YOUNGSTERS from Accrington's most deprived areas will exhibit art and performance work at an outdoor event tomorrow.
The group of 60 seven to 16 year olds are to be the stars of the show at Tell Trail, an outdoor display from 7pm being held at Gatty Park, Church.
The group, from Barnfield, Church, Springhill and Central wards, have taken elements of their often run-down surroundings, and adapted them for the event.
Youngsters will be performing drama, and displaying art work, all lit by their specially-made lanterns.
The event has been organised by a local arts group, CAP - Creative Activities Project - run by Hyndburn Council's arts department.
Kate Lambert, CAP youth arts co-ordinator, said: "If we get them talking about the areas around them maybe they could make changes in the future because they know there are some good things. It gives them a positive outlook.
"The event will be lit by lanterns made by the young people at New Era. Then there is drama produced by a youngsters at Hindle Lodge Community Centre."
The organisers of Tell Trail drafted in professionals in fields including drama, music, creative writing, puppets, lanterns and art to help.
