I COME from Manchester to Blackburn every weekday, coming off at Junction 6 (from Preston direction). It is quite often queued along the hard shoulder for hundreds of yards. It is only a matter of time before an accident will occur here. On many occasions cars have attempted to get in at the front of the queue, due to arrogance or ignorance, and articulated lorries squeeze past them at 60-70mph. The build-up is due to the slip road only being one lane, but it has a hard shoulder, it would be better and safer to change this to a two lane slip, at least getting the cars off the hard shoulder. If a car did break down it could easily be moved to the end of the slip (it's downhill) and have an emergency refuge at the end.
