IT is obvious that letter writer Maureen W Arnfield (LET, November 8) is a former nurse who doesn't think nurses should be allowed to go home in their uniforms.

I have thought this for a long while. You see them shopping in supermarkets and filling their cars with petrol on their way to work and I presume they put their uniforms in with the family wash. The washing machines of today don't get the water hot enough to kill germs.

They should revert to the old ways, doing their laundry at the hospitals and changing for work. Too simple for the higher up to think about.
