A WOMAN motorcyclist caught by police doing almost 110mph on a motorway told officers: "I'm just running it in."
Janet Helen Clarke, 38, a businesswoman of Fell View, Weir, Bacup, admitted speeding but avoided a ban after Blackburn magistrates heard it would cost her job.
Police stopped Clarke doing 109.83mph eastbound on the M65 at 11.50am on a Sunday. She said: "I'm just running it in, that's the first time I've opened it up."
Her licence was endorsed with six penalty points and she was fined £500. John Greenwood, defending, said Clarke works as operations manager for an importing company based mainly at Trafford Park, Manchester, and that the loss of licence would mean the loss of her job because commuting would be difficult.
The court heard she has since sold the Honda bike, bought just three months earlier, as a result of the incident.
