The 190 pupils, aged 14 and 15, were joined by staff from The Royal Bank of Scotland and catering students from Bury College to plan and budget a catering event for National Enterprise Week.

The pupils had to create menus, lay tables and cook the meals with the final results being judged by a panel of Royal Bank staff and teachers.

Providing some advice and guidance were representatives from Face2Face With Finance, a national programme run by the Royal Bank Group to develop business and financial skills with young people by recreating real-life scenarios involving financial decisions.

Jenny Marsh, Face2Face regional manager, said: "The importance of financial capability for young people cannot be underestimated. They need to be equipped with skills and confidence required to make decisions in adult life. The pupils have really impressed the judges and have had great fun too"
