A POIGNANT photography exhibition depicting life on the streets of Bury is now open.
The exhibition, at The Met in Market Street, is run in conjunction with Bury Lifelong Learning and the Homeless Project, which visits different neighbourhoods and allows them to tell the story of their community in their own way.
So Bury Lifelong Learning's Journey to Education group, which meets at Walnut Avenue allotments, decided to recount the story of their life on the streets through photography and creative writing.
One of the exhibitors, Lifelong's learner of the year John Paul Cleator, entered several pictures into the exhibition including a shot of a homeless man sat outside a shop in Bury.
Sue Scott, project manager, said: "John could have gone down the road and lived on the streets but he took the education route instead and became our lifelong learner of the year."
Also attending the opening of the exhibition was the Mayor of Bury, Councillor Barry Briggs. Sue added: "The Mayor showed real interest at the exhibition and spoke at length about the issues surrounding homeless people and offered his help in promoting our cause. He was really enthusiastic."
The exhibition is open until the end of the month at The Met.
