TWO brave Darwen shop assistants fought off robbers as shocked shoppers looked on in amazement.
Courageous Co-op worker George Cook, 60, of Westwell Street, was treated for cuts to the head after being hurled against the shop window by robbers.
But Mr Cook and his colleague refused to let the three-strong gang take money from the till during the hold up and the robbers left empty-handed.
