LANCASHIRE League club Nelson have become one of the first to benefit from the England and Wales Cricket Board's development fund.
The Seedhill club have been pledged a grant of £25,062 which they are to put towards a new two-bay artificial net practice area.
Nelson are also looking to put the funding towards an artificial pitch.
The ECB selected Nelson to benefit from their 9.4million Community Club Development Programme purse due to the club's strength in developing the junior game.
The club's project leader Julie Bradley said: "We are thrilled with the new facilities which will give us safe playing surfaces for our young cricketers.
"We will also be able to offer more opportunities to play for local schools and club teams.
"We already have a strong junior section, but there has to be an investment in youngsters for the benefit of the game."
