JUDY Paskell (Letters, November 5) seems to suggest that because some people like to eat in foreign restaurants, we should allow more asylum-seekers to come here. But surely the indigenous British people should have their feelings considered also.

Correspondent Roger Bowden is correct in stating that much of this country is losing its character, due to people of other cultures taking over.

I visit the war graves of France once a year and on the journey travel through Birmingham. I am disconcerted to see the number of mosques and other non-Christian religious buildings in this English city. These features are also beginning to appear in smaller towns and villages in this area.

'Patriot and Proud' seems to have adopted an ideology that is currently fashionable and convenient and is officially supported by government and media. BNP leaders received jail sentences for speaking the truth while today's race laws seems to be there to prevent the truth.

As for the fact that Mr Kaiserman joined the armed forces to stop the Nazis, so did millions of others from this country and the Commonwealth.

After the Second World War most people in this country were truly patriotic and held views that would be considered racist today. We also fought Germany to stop the UK being invaded, so it seems illogical to criticise people wanting to defend their country from another 'invasion' in the form of mass immigration.
