ROSSENDALE'S unbeaten run in the league came to an end as they produced a poor performance against a physical Woodley side.
The visitors outplayed and out-fought the Dark Lane side, and they deservedly went away with all three points.
The first half saw constant Woodley pressure. Despite their overwhelming superiority on the park, thanks to some outstanding defending they were reduced to just one effort on target during the half.
Even then keeper Mark Molyneaux was barely stretched to stop Vinnie Braine's effort from the edge of the penalty area.
It was a similar story after the break, with the visitors starting well on top.
Molyneaux produced a superb save to tip Russell Headley's shot over the bar, but the inevitable first goal arrived on 55 minutes, Melford Knight scoring from close range.
Dale tried to get back into the game and enjoyed a better share of the possession but created little with it. Their two best efforts came from set pieces with centre halves Jordan Rispin and Brad Clegg both trying their luck, but keeper John Scargill was up to the challenge.
Knight missed a sitter from close range which would have wrapped the game up for the visitors, but with just a goal in it OEDale always had a chance.
That opportunity looked to have arrived with five minutes remaining.
Substitute Dave Mason was brought down in the area but the referee waived away claims for a penalty and any chance of point disappeared.
