STARS of Coronation Street will be out when they switch on Radcliffe's Christmas lights this weekend.
Ryan Thomas and Bury's Nikki Sanderson, who play Jason and Candice in the soap, will help flick the switch at The Piazza on Saturday at 4pm, to give the town centre a festive glow.
Organised by Radcliffe Traders' Association and Bury Council, the fun gets under way from 11am and will include performances from junior school choirs, live bands including top cover band Usual Suspects, a fairground, face painter and tombola stall.
Santa will also be in his grotto inside Radcliffe's Market Hall. Prior to the switch-on, there will be prize presentations to winners of Radcliffe's Boy and Girl of the Year. There will also be the chance to grab the autographs of the two young Corrie stars.
Everyone attending the event will be given a ticket for entry to a free prize draw on December 4, with a host of goodies up for grabs, including a £100 holiday voucher and the chance to go on a six-week course at the Carol Godby Drama School.
Sue Stockall, chairman of the traders' association said: "Our aim is to bring together the people of Radcliffe in a Christmas celebration. As far as the businesses in Radcliffe are concerned, Christmas starts here and we welcome local people to come and join in the fun."
l Sue appealed for anyone with electrical expertise who can help set up the lights on the shop fronts before the weekend to contact her on 724 6646.
