I HAVE travelled frequently between Keighley and Lancashire since August. It has not been easy as I am happy not to own a car but disappointed at the circuitous, slow nature of public transport. A combination of trains, buses and lifts from a colleague has not been a bundle of fun either.
In the Aire Valley we have high quality electric trains from Skipton to both Leeds and Bradford. Compared to the awful rattle traps called Pacers which run from Preston to Colne they are luxury indeed. Should they not be running on a through, electrified route from Leeds to Preston? An extension to Blackpool or Windermere would help.
An interim option would be to upgrade the Preston to Burnley line. There should be less road building and much more rail investment.
