PRESTON pulled off the Hockey Association Cup shock of the fifth round to beat Barford Tigers of the National League in a 4-3 thriller on Sunday.
Preston opened the scoring with hat-trick hero Phil Bowman converting from close range following a terrific move down the right wing.
But they conceded two goals before half-time, the first from poor marking and another from a penalty flick.
A tactical change saw Preston begin the second half with renewed belief and after 56 minutes they drew level with a scintillating move which ended with Bowman finishing clinically in front of goal.
Preston rampaged forward and with only minutes to go, Bowman made space to power a shot through the crouching Tigers' goalkeeper.
Three minutes later, Preston extended their lead through a penalty flick from the irrepressible Sam Sinclair after some more great work from Bowman.
With only two minutes left, Preston conceded a sloppy goal from a penalty corner to set up a nervy finale but the team held strong to record a dramatic victory.
Preston take on Guildford in the fifth round of the HA Cup on Sunday, December 12 at West Cliff.
Preston dominated the match against Leeds going 3-0 ahead within 15 minutes and scoring two more before half time and seven more in the second half. Don Cock scored six in this match to take his tally to 18 league goals for the season. Preston travel to Durham University on Saturday for a Lancashire Cup quarter-final tie and host Liverpool University on Sunday.
