BURNLEY assistant manager, Dave Kevan, believes Dennis Wise is on the road to becoming a top manager.

He said: "Dennis is doing very well there and he has already built up a very good team and squad.

"He had a tremendous playing career and he has certainly started out on the right lines in his managerial role.

"He looks to have taken things in his stride with an FA Cup final and European football, so now he'll be looking for them to push on from last year and he seems to have them on the right road."

Meanwhile, Lions' striker Danny Dichio believes the club have what it takes to challenge at the top end of the table this season.

Dichio, who scored the only goal of the game last weekend in the impressive win over West Ham,. said: "With the team we've got, we can look at ourselves and say 'we can do something'.

"We are strong in defence, which we proved with the clean sheets we had last year. We have got more pace in the squad and with Scott Dobie and Barry Hayles arriving, there is competition for places."
