JAMES O'Connor has revealed he would jump at the chance of a permanent move to Burnley after hinting at an extended loan spell.

The West Bromwich Albion midfielder's initial month at Turf Moor runs out after tomorrow's home clash with Millwall.

However, O'Connor believes a gentleman's agreement struck before Gary Megson's departure from

the Hawthorns will allow him to remain with Steve Cotterill's side for a further two months.

And after admitting he had still not heard from new Albion boss Bryan Robson two weeks after his appointment, Dublin-born O'Connor accepts his career is "in limbo" and that he would be interested in joining the Clarets full time.

The 25-year-old midfield terrier said: "There's an awful lot going on at West Brom at the moment and I'm in a bit of limbo.

"I haven't met the manager (Robson) yet, but it's just great to be playing football again and if there was the chance of a permanent move to Burnley I'd certainly be interested.

"I am led to believe that the loan will go on for another month, perhaps even two. Certainly three months was originally mentioned and I'm hoping that will be the case.

"I don't really know what West Brom's angle on that is, but I don't think the change of manager has changed anything.

"The agreement was more or less made before Gary Megson left and, when that news broke on the day I was due to join Burnley, I just hoped West Brom wouldn't pull the plug on the deal.

"But they told me they had given Burnley their word and now I'll have to wait and see what happens."

O'Connor will now be hoping to end a profitable first month at Turf Moor on a high as the Clarets go in search of their third straight league win against Millwall.

However, injuries are again hampering Clarets boss Steve Cotterill, who seems unlikely to be able to welcome back any of his injured stars for tomorrow's visit of Dennis Wise's side.

A late decision will be made on John McGreal's calf problem, but Danny Coyne, Jean-Louis Valois, Micah Hyde and Richard Chaplow are are still undergoing treatment for their respective injuries.

Assistant Burnley boss Dave Kevan admitted: "We are still light on bodies with the injuries we have and it's more likely that Millwall's squad looks stronger on paper, so this will be a tough game for us.

"It's been nice to play Saturday to Saturday and that has given us a chance to look at the rest and recovery periods. "

"But the injuries are taking a little bit of time and we don't want to rush anyone back onto the pitch, so it doesn't look like any of the injured players will be back with us.

"At the moment, John McGreal is still undergoing treatment, so we'll have to leave things there as late as possible.

"But it's likely that Mark Yates will be on the bench again and with no disrespect to him, that gives you an insight into the depth of our squad."
