ONCE again we are approaching Christmas and once again the frenzied shopping for presents begins.
Before we go down this road again, wouldn't it be a good idea to make a pact with the would-be present giver, not to give or expect a present and for each of us to give something useful (i.e. non-perishable food or money) to a charitable organisation?
Most of us don't even need to go to the shops, we could donate a few items from our own stock cupboard.
I wonder how many of last year's presents are lying unopened? There must be socks, gloves, pullovers, scarves etc., which haven't been used, that would make a nice present for somebody who would not otherwise receive a present!
Each town has its own charity. We in Hyndburn have Maundy Grange which is situated near the General Post Office on Abbey Street in Accrington.
Wouldn't it be nice to celebrate Christ's birthday by buying a present in memory of Him to help somebody who has fallen by the wayside?
