APPARENTLY the Queen's Secretary has refused for the third time a request to allow a review of more than 300 executions of soldiers in the hope of granting pardons.
Some pardons were granted to some including officers and soldiers from abroad. There are some harrowing reports e.g., one soldier pleaded guilty to a minor offence only to find charges changed so that it attracted the death penalty.
Some relatives are hoping for a pardon before they, too, die.
The majority of cases are in the north, Scotland and Ireland and maybe there has not been sufficient support.
Some were underage and were volunteers, not conscripts.
There have recently been some ignorant, cruel and foul remarks made about soldiers. Isn't it now time to demonstrate some charity and humanity?
Or have we not moved on?
