COLNE pushed themselves into the title race with a win at Formby and banished their inability to convert early chances by scoring two goals in the first three minutes.
From the kick-off, Colne kept possession and strung together a move that ended with a David Gray cross into the area being lifted over the home keeper by Chris Ingham after just 13 seconds.
With the Reds rampant, James Webster freed Steve Cunningham with a crossfield ball and his run on goal resulted in him winning a penalty, which he recovered to take to make it 2-0.
Colne had appeals for a second penalty turned down when Ingham appeared to be brought down inside the area on the stroke of half-time.
Gary Rishton had a goal disallowed in the second half after heading in a free kick, while Gray and Carl Haworth both brought good saves from the Formby keeper.
Three points keeps Colne in the title race, and a professional performance extended their unbeaten run to 10 games.
