THE result of a public inquiry to decide whether motocross should continue on Shaws Farm, Tockholes, could be revealed next week.
Blackburn with Darwen Council served a notice earlier this year stating that the land at the farm, off Stockclough Lane, could only be used for up to 14 days per year for motocross activites.
The owners then applied for a licence, which was refused by the council, so they appealed against the decision and a public hearing was held in Blackburn Town Hall.
Residents and council representatives described the activities as noisy and frequent but they said the land had not been used continuously for ten years as there had been a break in activity in the 1990s.
The legal representative for the farm owners said that because motocross activities had been held regularly for more than a decade, a certificate of lawfulness should be given for the continued use.
Those involved in the hearing have been told an outcome could be reached early next week.
